Rossini’s Cinderella

p1040279I recently saw Rossini’s Cinderella at the San Diego Opera house. It was my first live Rossini, (I’ve watched The Barber of Seville on the screen). This was another comedy. The Lone Ranger proves Rossini’s music can charge, but it also swoons beautifully. And the sets were truly extraordinary. I’ve been a set enthusiast since high school.(Yes, I was that kid). It’s not the point, I know, opera is about music, but I say, throw awesome sets into the great music and, wow. Classic theater.
